According to some ldquo;sourcesrdquo; (which now always makes me think of journalists tapping mobile phones) two of the main organisers have quit this week, saying that a lack of funds and the shortage of volunteers means that next yearrsquo;s event is going to be impossible to manage. All this nonsense about ldquo;managingrdquo; the event and making sure attendees stay ldquo;safe and securerdquo; kind of defeats the original purpose of the festival, which was for the West Indian community to let loose, express themselves and celebrate their heritage in a fun and friendly way./p/p

p class=MsoNormalOK, Irsquo;m being a teeny bit selfish here; I mean, it would be sad if such an important cultural event was lost to the London calendar, but to me the Notting Hill weekend is just a great opportunity to go out and enjoy a few beers and a bit of a boogie in the sunshine! To be honest, the carnival could be celebrating anything and Irsquo;d join in. Unless the BNP start up their own street festival. I think even I would miss that party! Of course, wersquo;d find somewhere else to spend our Sunday afternoon if there is no Notting Hill Carnival next year, but to a lot of people the event is way more than a few Mojitos and shaking your booty (badly) to a reggae band! /p/p

I was at the beach recently and I noticed that there were a number of women wearing some really retro styled swimsuits. Yes I am talking about those suits with the high waists and that seem to truly show off the wearers shapes.

The problem I had was that there was no support, like London it support, for styles that I could call up to find out if what I was seeing was a new trend. Because what I am thinking is that those bare it all swim suits are out this summer.

Now it seems however that these retro styled swimsuits fit those women who have really good figures. So what’s the rest of us to do? I read a poll in Shop Smart, the consumer magazine, which basically suggests that two thirds of women are not please with how the look in a swimsuit.

I found out that Marks & Spencer recently did a swimsuit line called ‘tummy control’. It was based on a retro fifties style and shortly after they aired the ads the line sold out. Other labels like Seafolly from Australia has also launched their own retro lines and many are finding that they are having a difficult time keeping up with the demand. Others are in the process of designing and launching their own lines.

When I went online to check out a few of those clothing sites what I found was that many of them had the retro styled swimwear on display. They were also in different colours and patterns. The most prominent design was polka dots.

Of course this is the same in many other countries with tourism creating hubs out of the most beautiful and vibrant cities. However so many areas in England have become student ghettos and this has either had a positive affect on the area, Leeds or a negative affect, Northampton. Leeds has such a wide array of things to do from going out for the night to getting involved in film festivals. Northampton on the other hand only seems to offer cramped clubs that are rife with 40 plus revelers taking far too many illegal substances.

Brighton is one of those great cities in England that has benefited from the student explosion without losing its original beauty and magic. Brighton has so much to offer and is such a fantastic city that it is a wonder that I don’t live there!

From its wonderful boutiques and shops to its high street restaurants and beautiful tucked away cafes Brighton has so much to offer. You can fix the morning after the night before feeling with a leisurely stroll down the pier to get some delicious fish and chips and reminisce about the antics from the night before.

There is so much to choose from in Brighton, watching live music or live comedy, eating in some of England’s beautiful restaurants where you can dine on anything and everything.

Night clubs are very popular in London. They are mainly present in Soho and Shoreditch. They serve good food and music, and host stag nights and hen parties. If you are foodie then you will find restaurants in this city that are open throughout the night. They serve Chinese, Mexican, Indian, continental and other types of cuisine to satisfy the taste buds of various customers.

A person can also engage in out of the box activities, such as learn pole dance or join burlesque classes. Truly, the nightlife of London is something else.

Theatre is another mode of entertainment for all those who want to enjoy the night life in London in a classy manner. London has loads of them to offer you a variation on every single night of yours. During the day time the tourists in London can visit the museums, exhibitions, art galleries and historical buildings and architecture. Basically the day time in London is more for those people who are in London to experience the cultural side of England. But the night time in London is more for the party goers. If you are new to the city and searching for a good place to party then you should go out with a veteran party goer. Only he will be able to take you to different hidden party places in London where you will have loads of fun.

Many popular pubs and bars of London are located in hidden places. One such place is Breakfast at Egg. It is a club which is made by a collection of some dedicated clubbers. In these kinds of clubs time is not a constraint. Here you can party all night long and even up to the morning hours, and go straight to work or for a cosmetic surgery session from there! Though most pubs and bars close down before midnight in London, these clubs remain open all night long till the wee hours of the morning. But the thing is that it is very difficult to find these clubs out if you are not well accustomed with the streets of London and do not know the nicks and corners well enough.

Some of my friends have amazing, exotic and intriguing jobs. Makes my “cool” job at a design agency seem pretty mundane in comparison, but I wouldn’t swap my crazy workmates for anything. Well, maybe a lottery win!
One of my pals from university is a yacht concierge. No, he doesn’t spend time fixing up yachts with tickets for London events or organising restaurant bookings while they’re in town; he helps yacht owners take care of their boats when they’re too busy to maintain them. He gets to see some really fantastic yachts; he’s even looked after one that belonged to royalty, but he was sworn to secrecy by his boss, so could only give us charades-like clues when we met for a beer in town. I reckon somewhere in the Middle East, but seeing as my geographical knowledge stretches as far south as Brighton and as far north as Sheffield, where we both went to uni, I ran out of ideas after I established that one fact!
The best part of his job is that he has to take the yachts out for a sail regularly, to keep everything ticking over and check there are no problems before Mummy and Daddy arrive to pick up their pride and joy. Occasionally, I’ve been down for a visit in Southampton when he has to to take a boat out for a spin – and guess who gets to tag along? Yes, yours truly. The biggest land lubber on the face of the earth. The whole experience is probably wasted on me, but you get to pretend you’re rich and famous for a couple of hours. Just a shame the booze cabinet is always locked on these voyages. Arrr!
