The Chinese Ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, says the London Olympics in the summer of 2012 will create a long lasting legacy for the UK. Following the closing ceremony of 2008’s Olympics in Beijing and the handing over over the Olympic Flag to the London Mayor, Mr Boris Johnson, the world has been left wondering how London and the UK will be able live up to China’s dazzling performance four years ago.

London prepares for its biggest event of the last 50 years

The city of London has become somewhat entranced by the Olympic and Paralympic Games which see the entire world watching Britain’s every move between July and September 2012. With potentially billions of people tuning into the event and thousands of reporters and journalists flocking to the city, the games will be open to scrutinisation at every moment. This is why the most essential role of the committee is to ensure that the event avoids any technical glitches, security breaches, embarrassing errors or off-hand comments. London knows it is unlikely to beat the impressive opening ceremony of Beijing in 2008. However, many critics say the best way to get a round of applause at an event as large as this is to make sure that everything runs smoothly, rather than simply focusing on being creative and extravagant.

What will the Olympics do for Londoners?

It is clear that the Olympics will bring excellent economic benefits for copious British businesses, particularly restaurants, hotels and nightlife venues in London. This is what has justified an extortionate increase in the cost of accommodation in London during the games, which has risen by more than 400 percent in some cases.

The main concern for Londoners is that the disruption caused from higher volumes of tourists will force many workers, such as people in Domestic Cleaning Surrey, to work from home or make more time for commuting. The price of alcohol, restaurant food and tickets to venues near the Olympic site will also be much more expensive, much to the dissatisfaction of hard-working Londoners.

The night life of any place is different from that of what we see and experience in the day time. Gorgeous is the word which suits the best to describe the night life in London. Speaking about night life, it is the party zones, pubs, disc etc. that first comes to mind. Pubs and discs of all sorts are there in this great city. Some are cheap while few are quite costly but the fun and ambience you get there is worth the money spent for it. In fact clubbing directories are readily available for all those who want to check out the details of different pubs. Tourists particularly have a tendency to visit the pubs which are traditional. Though they look conventional but still have a classy beauty. If the total number of bars and pubs are counted the number will not be less than 5000. Hence, it is well understood that London had a huge variety to offer.

Theatre is another mode of entertainment for all those who want to enjoy the night life in London in a classy manner. London has loads of them to offer you a variation on every single night of yours. If you walk by the roads you will be dazzled by the beauty of the place. It is eccentric and exotic. Now they don’t have the gas lamps any more but still at night when the crowd is gone there is a harmonious ambience on the streets of London, which look like they have been cleaned by Polti 950 to give them an extra gleam. Tourists are highly attracted to such views. More over convenient transports are available at night. So, the night life of London is something that shouldn’t be missed. It is an experience that acted like an intoxicant and encouraged several artists, poets and authors to pen down different emotions in the form of art and literature. You never know how it will act on you.

Hands up if you’re going to be celebrating the Golden Jubilee later this year? And by celebrating, I mean doing something properly Royalist and patriotic, not just using the extra Bank Holiday to sit in the pub for 48 hours drinking increasingly slurred toasts to %u201CLizzie%u201D. At the risk of sounding older than my years, people in this country just don’t come together and celebrate these occasions in the way I remember people doing when I was a kid. Charles and Diana’s wedding was welcomed with a big street party on our road; I remember helping my Mum make what felt like a thousand cheese sandwiches, was sick after eating too much cake and drinking too much Dandelion and Burdock and feel asleep under the table. Actually, not much different from most parties I attend now, except that it’s usually vodka that makes me sick…

So my flatmates and I have taken it upon ourselves to organise a shindig for the Queen’s big day. We can’t really have a street party without seriously disrupting the flow of traffic through Camden, but we asked the industrial unit opposite if we can use their car park and they were more than happy. I think it was a stroke of genius to send my flatmate who works part-time as a stripper to ask permission on her way into work.

We haven’t got too far in our plans yet, but one of our friends is a close up magician who has offered to provide the entertainment, another works at a supermarket and has promised to try and get us some cheap party nibbles and booze and I’m turning my rather limited artistic skills to making decorations out of anything red, white and blue I can lay my hands on. Should be an awesome day – drop in if you’re passing through Camden on June 5th.

One thing I know to be true and that is, you can’t wear high heels forever so you will need to get a pair of flat shoes one way or another. A line from a Korean movie says, “A nice pair of shoes can take you to beautiful places.” This is literally true. As I drove from Manchester back to London recently, I kept admiring my flat shoes even when I stopped to fill up at a red diesel Manchester gas station.

If you are wearing comfortable shoes you are free to go wherever you want. You don’t have to worry about aching feet. Often a lot of people are brand-conscious when it comes to choosing shoes for every occasion. However, every woman has their own choice of style as long as it is keeping up with the current styles and trend.

For women they are much more comfortable wearing flat shoes in different styles and colors. These flat shoes for women are a great day or night options for all seasons and occasions. From parties, to dinners and even for school, flat shoes are just perfect.

In choosing flats, you need to consider things like the outfit that you want to match them with and the occasion of course. If you wish to go to a formal occasion, you can pick leather flats with embroidered pattern or a buckle on them.

Flat shoes that have neutral shades are great a great pick but you can also try colors that you don’t normally pay attention to. A summer dress would be best with flats that you chose from a color on your dress.

If you always wear high heel shoes give your feet time to relax by wearing fashionable flat shoes that are also comfortable and on the go.

Flats are what I like to call ready to wear so as long as they fit and go well with what you are wearing you will be ready to go.

I guess I’m probably not the only one to have heard the bad news about the Notting Hill Carnival. Or the potentially bad news, if you believe all the online chat! According to some “sources” (which now always makes me think of journalists tapping mobile phones) two of the main organisers have quit this week, saying that a lack of funds and the shortage of volunteers means that next year’s event is going to be impossible to manage. All this nonsense about “managing” the event and making sure attendees stay “safe and secure” kind of defeats the original purpose of the festival, which was for the West Indian community to let loose, express themselves and celebrate their heritage in a fun and friendly way.

I mean, I understand that in this day and age a lot of people can’t be trusted to behave themselves in this kind of environment, but it would be sad if something that has such organic and spontaneous roots ended because the ethnic communities of London were forbidden from holding next year’s carnival.

OK, I’m being a teeny bit selfish here; I mean, it would be sad if such an important cultural event was lost to the London calendar, but to me the Notting Hill weekend is just a great opportunity to go out and enjoy a few beers and a bit of a boogie in the sunshine! To be honest, the carnival could be celebrating anything and I’d join in. Unless the BNP start up their own street festival. I think even I would miss that party! Of course, we’d find somewhere else to spend our Sunday afternoon if there is no Notting Hill Carnival next year, but to a lot of people the event is way more than a few Mojitos and shaking your booty (badly) to a reggae band!

I was at the beach recently and I noticed that there were a number of women wearing some really retro styled swimsuits. Yes I am talking about those suits with the high waists and that seem to truly show off the wearers shapes.

The problem I had was that there was no support, like London it support, for styles that I could call up to find out if what I was seeing was a new trend. Because what I am thinking is that those bare it all swim suits are out this summer.

Now it seems however that these retro styled swimsuits fit those women who have really good figures. So what’s the rest of us to do? I read a poll in Shop Smart, the consumer magazine, which basically suggests that two thirds of women are not please with how the look in a swimsuit.

I found out that Marks & Spencer recently did a swimsuit line called ‘tummy control’. It was based on a retro fifties style and shortly after they aired the ads the line sold out. Other labels like Seafolly from Australia has also launched their own retro lines and many are finding that they are having a difficult time keeping up with the demand. Others are in the process of designing and launching their own lines.

When I went online to check out a few of those clothing sites what I found was that many of them had the retro styled swimwear on display. They were also in different colours and patterns. The most prominent design was polka dots.

One of my most loved parts of London is the hub of colour that is Camden. a fusion of varied fashion, culture, food and music it truly is a joy to visit with no two trips ever being the same. Camden town is a sea of interest, strewn with things to see and do at every turn. Camden lock market, located next to the canal was originally a craft market established in the 1970’s yet today a broader spectrum of shopping and products are on sale. The interesting thing about this maze of market stalls is that they are of course all open front and sometimes seem to merge in to one, without window displays to dress and draw people in, these independent market shops have to find innovative ways to invite customers in, sometimes with music or often with enthusiastic stall sellers coaxing you to look around. I particularly love Camden for its fashions, with a balanced mix of modern fashion styles and vintage clothes on offer. The Camden lock market stalls circle a central food area, which again mixes fixed establishments with market stalls selling a multitude of culinary delights. I like to sit here with a coffee and falafel wrap just to purely people watch, see the variety of cultures passing my eyes and most of all the colourful array of fashions people wear. If you visit Camden on a Sunday you can also have the pleasure of visiting the indoor fashion market housed in the Electric Ballroom which is open just one day a week. The laid back vibe of Camden is reflected in its operating hours, which doesn’t really get going until a leisurely 10am – quite a contrast to the hussle and bussle of central London. So if you haven’t already, I urge you to get yourself to Camden and see for your yourself what this wonderful town has to offer, you won’t be disappointed.

There is such diversity across England it is untrue and this doesn’t stop when we discuss nightlife in England. Certain cities it is more pleasurable to get laser tattoo removal than go for a night out however other cities have flourished in recent years and the nightlife of those cities and towns have become their highlights.

Of course this is the same in many other countries with tourism creating hubs out of the most beautiful and vibrant cities. However so many areas in England have become student ghettos and this has either had a positive affect on the area, Leeds or a negative affect, Northampton. Leeds has such a wide array of things to do from going out for the night to getting involved in film festivals. Northampton on the other hand only seems to offer cramped clubs that are rife with 40 plus revelers taking far too many illegal substances.

Brighton is one of those great cities in England that has benefited from the student explosion without losing its original beauty and magic. Brighton has so much to offer and is such a fantastic city that it is a wonder that I don’t live there!

From its wonderful boutiques and shops to its high street restaurants and beautiful tucked away cafes Brighton has so much to offer. You can fix the morning after the night before feeling with a leisurely stroll down the pier to get some delicious fish and chips and reminisce about the antics from the night before.

There is so much to choose from in Brighton, watching live music or live comedy, eating in some of England’s beautiful restaurants where you can dine on anything and everything.

London offers a vibrant nightlife. There is something for everyone. You have the theaters, pubs clubs and many more to keep you engaged for the night.

If you are planning to entertain yourself with some great theatrical show then head on to West End and the South Bank that are world famous. You can also enjoy world-class ballet and opera in places like the Royal Opera House, Sadler’s Wells, and the Coliseum. The theatrical shows are of various types like musical, thriller, drama and comedy.

If you are into music, then London nightlife will not disappoint you. There are indoor stadiums like the O2 Arena and the Royal Albert Hall to host world-class concerts. You can listen to concerts of jazz, classical, rock, blue and rhythms. London concerts attract the top international singing maestros.

Movies are an important part of London night life. You can enjoy watching them in large, multi-screen complexes as well as smaller halls. There are good small independent cinemas too. These places screen a variety of movies.

The London pubs are famous worldwide. They not only serve great food and drinks but also are great centers of entertainment. Some pubs also offer live music. One of them is the Golden Eagle in Marylebone. It is situated in Central London and offers nostalgic sing alongs a few times a week. The sport bar known as Sports Cafe at 80 Haymarket, Piccadilly is very famous. It has four bars, dancing stage and many more.

Night clubs are very popular in London. They are mainly present in Soho and Shoreditch. They serve good food and music, and host stag nights and hen parties. If you are foodie then you will find restaurants in this city that are open throughout the night. They serve Chinese, Mexican, Indian, continental and other types of cuisine to satisfy the taste buds of various customers.

A person can also engage in out of the box activities, such as learn pole dance or join burlesque classes. Truly, the nightlife of London is something else.

As the day life in London has many things to offer, the night life in London also has a lot to offer. In fact many people think that the night life in London has much more to offer than the day life. It is characterized by Cabaret, Burlesque, Pantomime, live music, disc jockeys, good food and drinks and partying all night long. Night life in London is quite popular all over the world because it has something to offer all night long for everyone, be it young or old.

During the day time the tourists in London can visit the museums, exhibitions, art galleries and historical buildings and architecture. Basically the day time in London is more for those people who are in London to experience the cultural side of England. But the night time in London is more for the party goers. If you are new to the city and searching for a good place to party then you should go out with a veteran party goer. Only he will be able to take you to different hidden party places in London where you will have loads of fun.

Many popular pubs and bars of London are located in hidden places. One such place is Breakfast at Egg. It is a club which is made by a collection of some dedicated clubbers. In these kinds of clubs time is not a constraint. Here you can party all night long and even up to the morning hours, and go straight to work or for a cosmetic surgery session from there! Though most pubs and bars close down before midnight in London, these clubs remain open all night long till the wee hours of the morning. But the thing is that it is very difficult to find these clubs out if you are not well accustomed with the streets of London and do not know the nicks and corners well enough.
